In the busy marketplace of Makola during the 1990s, Grandma Margaret initiated a venture that would evolve into a family legacy. By opening a small shop, she entered the mother care business, supplying essentials such as napkins, pins, powder, and hand-made baby clothes. Her shop quickly became a popular spot for new and expectant mothers seeking quality products.
Over time, her daughter Akosua returned from London with her two children and began contributing to the family business. She traveled to places like China, Thailand, Turkey, and London to source a diverse range of products, enriching their inventory. After Grandma's passing in the early 2000s, Akosua continued to grow the successful enterprise.
Caring Mums developed into a well-regarded brand in the mother care industry, serving businesswomen and first-time mothers, and attracting customers from Ivory Coast, Nigeria, Guinea, and Togo.
In 2024, Akosua's daughter Sarah, driven by a passion for childcare and with a BA Honours in Early Childhood Studies, decided to advance Caring Mums further. Offering a fresh perspective with her understanding of mothers' needs and expertise in early childhood, she aimed to transition the business into the digital era. Her goal was to expand the platform's reach beyond Ghana to the wider West African region.
Through a digital platform, Sarah aspired to bring the essence of Makola to mothers across West Africa. The platform offers first-time mums all they need to set up nursery rooms, providing high-quality resources and guidance.
